REPORT: Donald Trump Attacked, Hung Up On Australian Prime Minister

Donald Trump spent last Saturday on phone calls with world leaders. And we are now learning that some of those conversations didn’t go so well. The Washington Post reports that during Trump’s phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Trump blasted an agreement between the two countries over refugee resettlement and also bragged about the size of his Electoral College victory.

Trump also reportedly bragged about all the phone calls he had done that day with other world leaders.

According to senior U.S. officials briefed on the call, Trump told the Australian Prime Minister, “This was the worst call by far.”

The call was planned to last an hour but the Post reports that “then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.”

And when referring to the deal to accept 1,250 refugees Trump said, “This is the worst deal ever.” And then said that “he was ‘going to get killed’ politically and accused Australia of seeking to export the ‘next Boston bombers.'”

On Wednesday night after the story of the rocky phone call came out Trump took to Twitter to say, “Do you believe it? The Obama Administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!”

The Washington Post went on to report that, “U.S. officials said that Trump has behaved similarly in conversations with leaders of other countries, including Mexico. But his treatment of Turnbull was particularly striking because of the tight bond between the United States and Australia — countries that share intelligence, support one another diplomatically and have fought together in wars including in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
