Vice President Mike Pence was informed of the Justice Department warning regarding former national security adviser Michael Flynn late on February 9, 15 days after the White House and the president knew, two sources tell NBC News.

A source close to the vice president indicated that Pence was informed on February 9, which is 11 days after the president was informed by the White House Council and by then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates that Flynn had lied about his conversations with the Russian ambassador.

On January 15, Mike Pence appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation and defended Flynn saying that Flynn had never discussed sanction with the Russian ambassador. That turned out to be totally false and Flynn resigned on Monday evening.

Donald Trump was first informed about the Justice Department’s concerns regarding Flynn on January 26 according Sean Spicer’s press briefing today.
