WATCH: Colbert Grills Flynn: ‘Funny Cause It’s Treason’

Stephen Colbert grilled Michael Flynn for his resignation scandal on his show Tuesday night saying, “he just wanted to spend more time with his Russian contacts.”

Colbert slammed Flynn’s seeming stupidity, saying, “Now at first Flynn denied he discussed sanctions with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak. But he got caught because, turns out, we listen in on every phone call to the Russian Ambassador. Who knew? Evidently, not the national security adviser, you dummy.”

Colbert also ripped Flynn for his suggestion that he couldn’t be certain that sanctions ever came up. Colbert said, “As the national security adviser, you could ask for the transcript.”

“Could I see that please? I should really not have this job,'” Colbert said laughing. “It’s funny ’cause it’s treason.”
