Report: Senate Committee Asks Agencies To Keep All Russian Hack Records

The Associated Press reported on Sunday that the Senate Intelligence Committee has asked agencies to preserve all records that could be related to the Russian hacking of the 2016 election.

The report cited a congressional aide saying that that the committee has sent formal requests to more than a dozen organizations, agencies and individuals requesting the materials related to the probe into the Russian meddling be preserved.

FBI Director James Comey met with Senators from the Intelligence Committee in a secure meeting room on Friday.

According to the Associated Press, the intelligence panel’s chairman, Republican Richard Burr and vice chairman Democrat Mark Warner sent the letters out Friday.

And Thursday, Senate Democrats wrote letters to the White House and law enforcement agencies to seek assurances that all records that might pertain to the Russian hack are being preserved.

“Those letters asked for confirmation that the White House, FBI and Justice Department had instructed their employees to preserve all materials related to any contacts Trump’s administration, campaign, transition team — or anyone acting on their behalf — have had with Russian government officials or its associates,” the Associated Press reported.
