Trump Chickens Out of White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Donald Trump announced Saturday that he will not be attending the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, D.C. – an event that has been held every year since 1920.

Trump, of course, made this announcement on Twitter, but seemed to leave out any attack on the mainstream media:

The event is a journalism scholarship benefit dinner that is traditionally attended by major media outlets, celebrity guests and the president and vice president.

His refusal to attend comes amid reports that media outlets like CNN and MSNBC have been considering skipping the event at the Washington Hilton. Additionally, comedian Samantha Bee was already planning a counter-event during the same time, dubbed the “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”

Trump’s move comes in the heat of his ongoing battle with the media, which he has labeled the opposition party and “fake news.”

A high-profile comedian usually hosts the event in which the president is roasted by the comedian and the president roasts the media. Of course, we all remember when former President Barack Obama roasted Trump in 2011 over Obama’s certificate. Trump is still healing from the burns he received from Obama. Watch here:
