‘No Such Wiretap Existed,’ Ryan Throws Cold Water On Trump’s Baseless Wiretap Accusation

Speaker Paul Ryan joined other members of Congress who have said that there is no evidence to back up Donald Trump’s accusation that President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

“The intelligence committees — in their continuing, ongoing, and widening investigation into all things Russia — got to the bottom, at least so far with respect to our intelligence community, that no such wiretap existed,” said Ryan.

Yesterday, Congressmen Nunes and Schiff held a press conference and announced that “no evidence” exists to back up Trump’s claims.

“As I told you last week about the issue with the president talking about tapping Trump Tower, that evidence still remains the same, that we don’t have any evidence that that took place,” Nunes told reporters.

“In fact, I don’t believe just in the last week of time, the people we’ve talked to, I don’t think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower.”

“Are you going to take the tweets literally?” he asked. “If you are, then clearly the president is wrong.”
