House Intel Committee Invites Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates To Testify

An invitation was sent to Comey, Rogers, Brennan, Clapper and Yates to testify before the House Intelligence Committee.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence announced Friday that it has sent letters inviting testimony from former acting Attorney General Sally Yates as well as FBI Director James Comey, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, National Security Advisor Admiral Mike Rogers and former CIA Director John Brennan.

The news comes after weeks of seeming inaction from the House Intel Committee after FBI Director James Comey announced during testimony that the FBI was actively investigating collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The Yates hearing would be scheduled after the Comey and Rogers appearance, slated for May 2. The ranking Democrat on the Intel Committee Adam Schiff announced that the committee is back on track in a tweet:

Texas Republican Congressman Conway took over as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee after Devin Nunes was forced to recuse himself because of an ethics investigation into whether he revealed classified information.

The Washington Post reported at the time that the White House sought to block Sally Yates from testifying. CNN later reported that Nunes accusation that Susan Rice or anyone in the Obama administration did anything wrong was simply incorrect. “After a review of the same intelligence reports brought to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, multiple sources in both parties tell CNN,” CNN reported.
