Trump Is Increasingly Furious With Jeff Sessions

Donald Trump has grown increasingly frustrated with Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Trump is blaming Sessions for the fact that his Muslim-ban has been blocked by the courts and other legal issues his administration has faced, The New York Times reports.

In an unhinged series of Monday morning tweets, Trump accused the Justice Department of producing a “watered down, politically correct version” of the ban, which was blocked in the courts.

According to the report, Trump is also upset with Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from an investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Sessions recused himself after it was revealed that he had not disclosed all his communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Trump reportedly views Sessions’ recusal as a major contributor to the appointment of a special counsel to investigate the Trump team’s dealings with Russia.

“In private, the president’s exasperation has been even sharper. He has intermittently fumed for months over Mr. Sessions’s decision to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election, according to people close to Mr. Trump who insisted on anonymity to describe internal conversations. In Mr. Trump’s view, they said, it was that recusal that eventually led to the appointment of a special counsel who took over the investigation,” The New York Times reports.

Trump’s tweets prove he has little to no understanding of how the U.S. legal system works.
