Another Congressional Democrat Just Called For Impeachment

The effort to impeach Donald Trump gained a second member of Congress on Wednesday when Democrat Brad Sherman of California joined Al Green in calling for Trump to be impeached.

Sherman’s call for impeachment came after the release of former FBI Director James Comey’s Senate testimony which confirmed Trump tried to obstruct justice.

“The standard for ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ has been met,” Sherman said during a press briefing on Capitol Hill.

Sherman noted that he is currently drafting articles of impeachment based on the testimony of James Comey.

The impeachment process starts in the House of Representatives and moves to the Senate for a trial.

Sherman said his impeachment resolution will be “remarkably similar” to the one passed in 1974 by the House Judiciary Committee as part of the impeachment process of Richard Nixon.

Comey is set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee Thursday. The former FBI Director’s opening remarks confirmed previous reports that Trump obstructed justice by pushing Comey to drop the FBI’s investigation into Michael Flynn.

It was also confirmed that Donald Trump demanded a loyalty oath from James Comey and suggested his job was on the line.
