Trump’s Treasury Nominee Lied About Degree From Dartmouth

It turns out that Donald Trump’s nominee to run a major regulatory post in the Treasury Department has been lying about his college degree.

According to a Bloomberg News report Friday, Joseph Otting, Trump’s pick to run the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, listed a degree on his resume from the “School of Credit and Financial Management at Dartmouth College.”

However, as the report points out that school was never affiliated with Dartmouth University.

“Joseph Otting is not a Dartmouth graduate,” Dartmouth spokeswoman Diana Lawrence said on Wednesday.

“Dartmouth does not have a school of credit and financial management.”

In fact, the “school” is actually just a four-week program spread over two years run by the National Association of Credit Management (NACM).

Mr. Otting would be the first comptroller in decades to not hold an advanced degree.

The role Otting has been nominated for is a significant Wall Street regulatory position.

Otting is also a former colleague of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s at OneWest Bank.
