US Investigators Now Looking Into Russian Intelligence Official Who Met With Trump Jr: Report

Investigators are now looking into the role that former Russian intelligence official, Rinat Akhmetshin, played in the meeting between the Donald Trump Jr and a Russian lawyer who was offering damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

It was revealed Friday morning that the former intelligence officer also attended the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower.

Many US officials consider Akhmetshin to be a current Russian intelligence operative.

Akhmetshin, who is now a dual U.S. Russia citizen, confirmed with the Associated Press that he attended the meeting.

According to Politico, “U.S. officials became aware of Akhmetshin’s potential involvement in the meeting earlier this week. Three officials expressed concern about his role to POLITICO and said they were probing it further as part of their larger investigation into ties between Trump associates and the Kremlin.”

It was reported by the Associated Press Friday that the Russian lawyer at the center of the bombshell meeting handed Trump Jr. a folder of documents.
