BREAKING: Steve Bannon To Be Fired

According to a new report by The New York Times, Donald Trump has told his top aides that he is ready to fire Steve Bannon.
“The president and senior White House officials were debating when and how to dismiss Mr. Bannon. The two administration officials cautioned that Mr. Trump is known to be averse to confrontation within his inner circle, and could decide to keep on Mr. Bannon for some time,” The New York Times report notes.
The report of Bannon’s firing has also been confirmed by NBC News and was reported live on MSNBC at about 12:50 Eastern.
Rumors of Bannon’s firing have swirled almost since the beginning of the Trump administration but Trump has been hesitant to remove Bannon despite the near-universal condemnation from people on both sides of the aisle.
Our theory at Progressive Post Daily is that Trump has been afraid to fire Bannon because of his relationship with Breitbart and the Trump base. The idea of a disgruntled Steve Bannon free to go after Donald Trump is a frightening prospect for a president whose only political strategy is to keep his base.
Bannon’s firing was foreshadowed this morning when it was reported that Bannon was not part of the group traveling to Camp David with Donald Trump.
During his off the rails press conference on Tuesday, Trump refused to defend Bannon. “We’ll see what happens with Mr. Bannon,” Mr. Trump said.
