How Donald Trump Is Profiting (Bigly) From The Presidency

Emoluments. Emoluments. Emoluments. Emoluments. Emoluments. Emoluments. Emoluments.

It seems like every week we get a new report about just how much Donald Trump is making off of his new office.

And Monday morning we got a new report by the Washington Post detailing just how much money the Republican party has paid the boss this year.

Trump owned companies have been paid $1.3 million this year, according to the Washington Post report.

“At least 25 congressional campaigns, state parties and the Republican Governors Association have together spent more than $473,000 at Trump hotels or golf resorts this year, according to a Washington Post analysis of campaign finance filings. Trump’s companies collected an additional $793,000 from the RNC and the president’s campaign committee, some of which included payments for rent and legal consulting,” The Washington Post report notes.

The Washington Post report is on the heels of a new USA Today report that revealed the Secret Service budget is depleted because of Donald Trump’s constant vacationing.

The Post also notes that the money from Republican committees this year is helping compensate for the loss of a significant amount of business as charities have decided cancel planned events at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property following Charlottesville.

It was also reported recently that Donald Trump’s new hotel in Washington DC made a surprise profit of $2 million in the first half of 2017 after initially being expected to lose money for the first few years. The profit at Trump’s hotel was fueled by frequent visits and events by Republican groups.

Several groups have filed lawsuits arguing that Donald Trump is in violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause which bars accepting of foreign payments by the President.
