GOP Governor: Trump’s Decision To End Obamacare Subsidies Is ‘Devastating’

“It’s going to hurt people. It’s going to hurt kids. It’s going to hurt families.”

Nevada’s Republican Governor Brian Sandoval blasted President Donald Trump’s decision to end key Obamacare subsidy payments on Friday, calling the decision “devastating.”

The subsidy payments help low-income and middle-income Americans afford insurance co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs. Though, Trump and Republicans continually mischaracterize the subsidies as benefiting the insurance companies, rather than the patients.

“It’s going to hurt people. It’s going to hurt kids. It’s going to hurt families. It’s going to hurt individuals. It’s going to hurt people with mental health issues. It’s going to hurt veterans. It’s going to hurt everybody,” Sandoval told The Nevada Independent.

“And so this is something that I’ve been very supportive [of] during my administration in terms of expanding health care and making sure that people have access to affordable health care and I’m going to continue on that path,” Sandoval continued.
