Obamacare Sign-Ups Keep Surging, Despite Trump Sabotage

2.3 million have signed up for Obamacare plans so far this year.

Despite the Trump administration’s repeated attempts to sabotage President Obama’s landmark health care law, the Affordable Care Act, sign-ups are surging.

In the first 18 days of open enrollment, 2.3 million people have signed up for Obamacare plans the Trump administration reported Wednesday.

In the third week of Obamacare open enrollment, 800,000 people signed up for health care plans – including at least 220,000 new customers.

In all about 500,000 new customers have signed up for Obamacare in the last three weeks.

And signups are ahead of pace compared to last year with 2.3 million people signing up in the first 18 days compared to 2.1 million last years.

Though it is important to note that the Trump administration substantially shortened the open enrollment period this year, which ends on December 15 this year.

The increased signup figures are a sign of strong demand for the Affordable Care Act, despite a dramatic cut to the advertising and outreach budget.

The numbers released by the Trump administration do not include signups for states like California that run their own health care exchanges.
