Mueller Just Indicted A Russian-Linked Lawyer Tied To Trump Campaign

A lawyer connected to Russia just got charged by Special Counsel for lying to the FBI about contacts with Trump aide Rick Gates.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has indicted a Russian-linked lawyer for lying to FBI investigators about his conversations with former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates.

The lawyer, Alex van der Zwaan, just so happens to be the son of Russian oligarch German Khan connected to Russia’s Alfa Bank.

The new charges against van der Zwaan come at the same time that a new report confirms that Rick Gates has agreed to a cooperation deal with the Special Counsel and will testify against Paul Manafort and his other former associates on the Trump campaign.

On Friday, Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals and 3 Russian businesses for conspiracy to defraud the United States by meddling in the 2016 election.

In the charging document that Mueller’s team filed in D.C. federal district court, Van Der Zwaan is charged with “did willfully and knowingly make materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements and representations” as he answered questions from the FBI regarding his work as an attorney at a law firm doing work for Ukraine.

Oh and by the way, the law firm that used to employ van der Zwaan also used to employ Paul Manafort’s daughter.
