European Intelligence Picked Up Communication Between Trump Associates And Russia Intel: CNN

A CNN report on Thursday confirms that European intelligence agencies picked up communications between Trump associates and Russian intelligence officials.

CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed Jim Sciutto, CNN’s national security reporter, who reports that their sources confirm that European intelligence officers picked up repeated communications between the Trump associates and Russian agents through incidental collection during routine surveillance of Russia.

The report comes on the same day that The Guardian reported that it was British intelligence that initially picked up the communications between Trump associates and Russian agents and passed them along to their U.S. counterparts in the CIA.

The Guardian reported Thursday that British intelligence officials spotted the odd connections much earlier than originally thought. British intelligence noted suspicious connections between Trump associates and Russian intelligence officials in late 2015. And the intelligence was then passed on to U.S. authorities as part of routine intelligence exchange.

The communications between Donald Trump associates and the Russian officials occurred over several months.
