Trump Proposes Massive Cuts To Food Stamps, Children’s Health, Disability Insurance And More

Donald Trump’s proposed budget is so much worse than originally thought.

Donald Trump is expected to introduce his proposed 2018 budget on Tuesday and according to reports, it will include dramatic cuts social programs.

According to multiple reports, the to programs Trump is planning to make massive cuts to are Medicaid, food stamp, federal pensions and even the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Axios reports that the total proposed cuts are $1.7 trillion, yes that is right, over ten years. And because Trump insists on increasing military spending, despite the fact that the Pentagon has said they don’t need more funding, the remaining social programs are going to take an even bigger cut.

The programs taking the biggest cuts are ones that poor and low-income Americans count on the most, including SNAP (food stamps), CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), and SSDI (Disability Insurance).

In addition, the budget includes $800 billion in cuts to Medicaid from the House GOP Obamacare repeal bill.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will take a massive $193 billion cut. The food stamp cuts are part of a larger $274 billion cut that’s labeled welfare reform, according to the Associated Press.

In addition to the dramatic cuts to social programs, Trump is also planning a massive 35 percent cut to the Environmental Protection Agency.
