Senate Republican Health Bill Lowers Taxes On Wealthy, Cuts Insurance For Poor: Report

Any indication that Senate Republicans would make the House health care bill more moderate just got chucked out the window.

According to a new report by the Washington Post, the Senate Republican bill would lower taxes on wealthy individuals while dramatically cutting insurance for poor and middle-class Americans.

The Washington Post notes that the Senate bill “largely mirrors the House measure that narrowly passed last month.”

Importantly, the Senate bill would make deeper long-term cuts to Medicaid than even the House bill did.

The bill will also give states more ability to remove important Obamacare protections like pre-existing conditions and lifetime spending caps.
