4 in 10 Americans Want Trump Impeached: Poll

A new Monmouth poll has some troubling news for Donald Trump – a significant percentage of Americans want him to be impeached.

The poll found that 41 percent of Americans think Donald Trump should be impeached, with 53 percent disagreeing.

Donald Trump’s job approval rating, according to Monmouth, is just 39 percent.

At the same time a majority of Americans, 52 percent, disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president.

More Americans want Trump impeached than wanted Nixon impeached at beginning of Watergate

At the beginning of the Watergate scandal, only 24 percent of Americans wanted Nixon impeached. According to the Monmouth poll, significantly more people want Trump impeached than Nixon.

“Even though Trump’s approval rating is similar to Nixon’s, more Americans support impeachment today than did in 1973. That’s partly due to the current epidemic of hyper-partisanship that was simply not prevalent forty years ago,” the poster noted

Other key numbers from the poll:

  • Nearly two-thirds of the public believes the Russian government either definitely (36%) or probably (29%) tried to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.
  • 54 percent of Americans are concerned that Trump may be too friendly toward Russia.
  • 62 percent of Americans say the special counsel investigation into Russian interference should continue while 33% say it should be brought to an end.
