Senate Confirms Betsy DeVos to Run A Department She Has No Experience In
Vice President Mike Pence came in to break the 50-50 tie in the Senate today in order to confirm Betsy DeVos to run the Department of Education.
The reason there has been so much push back from Democrats, and some Republicans, is that DeVos has no experience in public education. She has never worked in public education. She has never attended a public school. None of her children have every attended public school.
What she does have experience in is being a wealthy donor from Michigan who has devoted much of her life to expanding educational choice through charter schools and vouchers. But no public education experience.
Who would think that is a good idea? Well the Trump administration of course, who is looking to pass a $20 billion voucher initiative aimed at low-income children.
