Report: Russia Just Deployed Cruise Missile In Violation Of Arms Treaty

Let the scary times begin. Just hours after the National Security Adviser resigned in scandal for having discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador, we learn that the Russians have deployed a cruise missle in violation of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.

The New York Times is reporting that “Russia has secretly deployed a new cruise missile despite complaints from American officials that it violates a landmark arms control treaty that helped seal the end of the Cold War, administration officials say.”

The move by Russia is a clear challenge for Donald Trump who has repetedly pledged to improve relations with the Russia and to pursue arms control measures.

The news of the Russian deployment comes as the Trump administration tries to clean up the mess from the fallout of the Micael Flynn’s resignation as national security adviser.

The New York Times also notes that, “the new Russian missile deployment also comes as the Trump administration is struggling to fill key policy positions at the State Department and the Pentagon — and to settle on a permanent replacement for Michael T. Flynn, the national security adviser who resigned late Monday.”
