John McCain Announces He Will Oppose Trump’s Pick For Management and Budget

Senator John McCain announce Wednesday from the Senate floor that he will not be supporting Donald Trump’s pick for Office of Management and Budget, Congressman Mick Mulvaney.

McCain said, “Under most circumstances, I always give the benefit of the doubt to the incoming president … so it is with great reluctance that I came to the floor of the Senate to rise in opposition to the nomination of Mick Mulvaney.”
McCain went on to say, “He has spent his last six years pitting the national debt against our military.”
With McCain voting no, Republicans can’t afford to have many more defections. Republicans hold a 52 seat majority, meaning that if two more Republicans join McCain in voting no and Democrats all vote no, Trump’s nominee will go down.
McCain has taken exception to Mulvaney’s attempts to block the Senates attempt to increase military spending.
