WATCH: Trump Tries To Blame Obama And Generals For Failed Yemen Raid He Ordered

Donald Trump was asked to respond to the father of the killed Navy SEAL who refused to meet with him. And Trump’s reaction was to try and claim the raid was somehow Obama’s fault.

This, of course, is not true, reporting has confirmed that the Obama administration purposely did not make any decision about the raid so that the new administration could examine and make its own decision. But that didn’t stop Trump from trying to blame Obama for his failed raid.

“Well, this was a mission that was started before I got here,” Trump said. “This was something that was, you know, they wanted to do. They came to see me, they explained what they wanted to do — the generals, who are very respected, my generals are the most respected that we’ve had in many decades, I believe.”

This is how NBC News reported on the issue, “Obama officials declined to sign off on what officials described as a significant escalation in Yemen. Just five days in, Trump greenlighted the mission.”

He also seemed to suggest that the generals wanted to do it as if he doesn’t have a role in determining whether the operation should move forward.

What ever happened to the buck stops here?

According to a new NBC News report, the raid didn’t yield any significant intelligence. “A senior Congressional official briefed on the matter said the Trump administration has yet to explain what prompted the rare use of American ground troops in Yemen, but he said he was not aware of any new threat from al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the al Qaeda affiliate that was targeted.”

The father of the Killed Navy SEAL Bill Owens has called for an investigation into his sons death. “Don’t hide behind my son’s death to prevent an investigation.”

“I want an investigation. The government owes my son an investigation,” Owens said.
