Bernie Sanders On Republican Health Plan: ‘It is an absolute disaster’

Senator Bernie Sanders didn’t mince words when he was asked about the Republican Obamacare replacement plan on CBS’s Face The Nation Sunday. Sanders blasted the Republican health plan, saying “It is an absolute disaster. It is a disgrace.”

Sanders also pointed out that the Republican plan has nothing to do with health care, and has everything to do with “a massive shift of wealth from working people and middle income people to the very richest people in this country.”

“It is a $275 billion tax break for the top 2 percent, Sanders continued. “Millionaires will get about $50,000 a year in tax breaks, while at the same time, some 5 to 10 million people are going to lose their health insurance.”

Sanders also said that “The AARP says that if your are 64 years of age and you are making about $25,000 a year, you’re going to pay about $7,000 a year more for your health insurance.”

And Sanders also slammed the Republican plan because it will defund Planned Parenthood and decimate Medicaid – which is why so many groups including the American Medical Association and the American Hospital Association are opposing the Republican plan.
