CNN: FBI Director Comey Will Go Public On Trump-Russia Probe

A CNN report Tuesday night confirmed that FBI Director James Comey will go public on the Trump-Russia investigation.

The CNN report confirmed that Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said that FBI Director James Comey has promised to tell him on Wednesday whether the FBI is investigating ties between Russia and the campaign of President Donald Trump.

“The Rhode Island Democrat said that Comey made the promise in a March 2 meeting with him and Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina,” CNN confirmed.
Director Comey assured Senator Whitehouse that he would confirm if there is an investigation “and the scope of their Russia/Trump investigation because he had not been able to at that point say that there was one.”

The news comes after Senator Lindsey Graham said that he would “make an announcement and let the FBI know they are about to screw up big time — if they keep running to the intel committee and not answer that letter.”

Senator Graham was commenting on the apparent lack of response from the FBI related to a request that came from the Senator’s committee.

“We have jurisdiction over the FBI,” Graham said. “I like Director Comey a lot. But … all things legal come through the judiciary committee. If they don’t honor this request and give us an answer then I would say that we need a joint select committee because the regular order is not working.”
