Tillerson To Skip NATO Meeting Next Month, Visiting Russia Instead

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will be skipping next month’s NATO meeting in Brussels it was reported Monday night.

Tillerson will be staying stateside to attend Donald Trump’s get-together with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago. Tillerson will then head to Russia at the end of April, Reuters reported.

The Reuters report noted, “The decisions to skip the NATO meeting and to visit Moscow risked feeding a perception that Trump may be putting U.S. dealings with big powers before those of smaller nations that depend on Washington for their security, said two former U.S. officials.”

The news comes at the end of a where the news was dominated by the revelation by FBI Director James Comey that the FBI is investigating Donald Trump’s campaign and its connections with the Russian government. Trump has faced additional questions about his pro-Russia and anti-NATO policy stance.
