Federal Judge Extends Block Of Trump Revised Muslim-Ban

Hawaii judge extends earlier order blocking Donald Trump’s second Muslim-ban.
A federal judge in Hawaii has extended his previous ruling blocking Donald Trump’s Muslim-ban.

On Wednesday Judge Derrick Watson extended his original temporary restraining order by issuing a longer-lasting preliminary injunction against the Muslim-ban.

Judge Watson ruled in previously that the state of Hawaii showed a strong likelihood of success in their lawsuit against Donald Trump’s Muslim-ban executive order.

According to the Associated Press, the judge is “Extending the temporary order until the state’s lawsuit was resolved would ensure the constitutional rights of Muslim citizens across the U.S. are vindicated after “repeated stops and starts of the last two months,” the state has said.”

The Judge ruled that the Trump order violates the Constitution’s Establishment Clause. “It makes little sense to do so,” Watson wrote. “That is because the entirety of the Executive Order runs afoul of the Establishment Clause, where ‘openly available data support a commonsense conclusion that a religious objective permeated the government’s action.”
