Syrian Forces Resume Military Operations From Airbase Hours After U.S. Strike: Report

Syrian warplanes continued to carry out attacks just hours after Donald Trump ordered U.S. airstrikes against the base where chemical weapons attack originated.

In yet more evidence that Donald Trump’s order for missile strikes in Syria was nothing more than an empty publicity stunt, news reports are confirming that Syrian warplanes have resumed operations from the airbase that U.S. missiles targeted.

The Syrian military carried out attacks from the central Syrian air base just hours after it was hit by U.S. missile strikes, according to a report from the Daily Star.

And a human rights group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said that two warplanes “took off from inside the Shayrat base, which is partially back in service, and struck targets near Palmyra.”

The AFP news agency also reported the news on Twitter.

The news of resumed Syrian operations from the base comes after reports that the U.S. gave Russia and Syria advance warning of the coming strikes and intentionally avoided the air base’s runways.
