The news that Bill O’Reilly was fired from Fox News was especially impactful on Stephan Colbert. As he said on his show Wednesday night, “I owe a lot to Bill O’Reilly.”
Colbert reminded us that O’Reilly’s firing isn’t that big a surprise since he’s been accused of inappropriate behavior for years.
Colbert also read from Fox New’s statement about Bill O’Reilly’s firing which said: “By ratings standards, Billy O’Reilly is one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news.” And Colbert agreed.
Then Colbert quickly followed that up with, “By moral standards, he was a self-righteous land full of angry garbage.”
