Grand Jury Subpoenas Have Been Issued In FBI’s Russia Investigation

We have a grand jury!!!

According to a new report, a grand jury has been empaneled in the Trump-Russia investigation. And not only has a grand jury been empaneled but the grand jury has issued subpoenas to the associates of Michael Flynn.

“Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas to associates of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn seeking business records, as part of the ongoing probe of Russian meddling in last year’s election, according to people familiar with the matter,” CNN reported.

CNN reports that it learned of the subpoenas several hours before Donald Trump fired the FBI Director.

The news that subpoenas have been issued marks a “significant escalation of activity in the FBI’s broader investigation begun last July into possible ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia.”

The subpoenas were issued in the last few weeks by the US Attorney’s Office in Alexandria, Virginia.
Additionally, the subpoenas were delivered to associates of Michael Flynn on contracts after he was forced out as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2014, CNN reported.
“The Flynn inquiry is one piece of the broader investigation, which FBI Director James Comey testified in a Senate hearing last week is led jointly by the Alexandria US Attorney’s Office and the Justice Department’s National Security Division,” CNN noted.
The news of the firing of an active grand jury and that it has issued subpoenas comes on the same day that the White House is trying to suggest that their firing of the FBI Director was recommended by the Justice Department and not a political move meant the derail the Russia investigation.
