Trump Transition Mishandled Classified Information: Report

Trump has a frightening pattern of careless behavior when it comes to classified information.

Donald Trump’s handling of classified information has been on the front pages the last few days after it was reported that Trump revealed highly classified intelligence with the Russians. The intelligence was shared with the United States by the Israelis who reportedly had an intelligence official embedded into ISIS – that intelligence officer is now at risk.

Now we learn, thanks to a new report by the Associated Press, that this isn’t the first time Trump and team have mishandled classified intelligence. According to the AP report, the Trump transition team removed classified documents from secure rooms without permission and carried them between buildings in Washington.

“In the weeks before Trump took office, Obama administration officials were so concerned by the Trump transition team’s handling of classified documents that they moved swiftly to exert more control over the sensitive materials, according to two former U.S. officials,” the AP reports.

The Obama administration officials were forced to set new controls on classified information and “explicitly barred Trump aides from viewing that material in their transition offices.”

These, of course, are not the only examples of Trump’s mishandling of classified information. During a dinner at his private resort with the Japanese Prime Minister, Trump discussed a response to a North Korean missile launch in front of a room full of diners who took photos and posted them online.

The new report by the Associated Press confirms a pattern of frighteningly careless behavior by Donald Trump and his team when it comes to classified information.

And Trump, of course, delivered endless criticism of Hillary Clinton during the campaign for her handling of classified information, which when compared to Trump’s sharing with the Russians seems like a minor infraction.
