Montana Republican Greg Gianforte just attacked a reporter, slamming him to the floor and breaking his glasses.
The episode was first reported by the man who was assaulted, Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs, on Twitter.

Levinson also confirmed the report on MSNBC during All In With Chris Hayes.
The sheriff’s department was on the scene shortly after the incident to take witness statements.

Jacobs has been covering the race and last month wrote about Gianforte having financial ties to U.S.-sanctioned Russian companies.
