Trump Has Given Priebus Deadline Of July 4 To Clean House: Report

Donald Trump has given his Chief of Staff Reince Priebus a deadline of July 4 to clean house and get the White House in order, according to a new report.

A report by Politico notes that Trump is considering bringing in his controversial former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and deputy campaign manager David Bossie as senior adviser and deputy chief of staff, respectively.

“While Trump has set deadlines for staff changes before, only to let them pass without pulling the trigger, the president is under more scrutiny than ever regarding the sprawling Russia investigation, which is intensifying the pressure on his White House team,” Politico notes.

However, according to multiple sources, during a meeting with Lewandowski, Bossie and Priebus, Trump scolded Priebus telling him he would give him one last chance to turn things around.

“I’m giving you until July 4,” Trump told Priebus according to the report.

“I don’t want them to come into this mess. If I’m going to clean house, they will come in as fresh blood.”

Trump’s July 4 deadline corresponds with Mitch McConnell’s deadline for passage of the Republican health care bill.

The Politico report is not the first rumor of a White House shake-up, in fact, many rumors have come and gone with little change to staffing.

However, at the end of May, White House communications director Mike Dubke resigned and since then speculation about Lewandowski’s and Bossie’s has swirled.
