Majority Of Americans Believe Trump Did Something Illegal Or Unethical With Russia: Poll

A majority of American adults believe that Donald Trump has done something either illegal or unethical with Russia, according to a new poll.

In the new NPR/Marist poll, 54 percent of Americans now believe the president has done something illegal or unethical, compared to 49 percent in the February poll.

The numbers break down as follows:

  • 25 percent believe Trump did something illegal
  • 29 percent think he has done something unethical, but not illegal
  • 36 percent of Americans believe he has not done anything wrong in regards to Russia

As usual, the numbers break out largely along party lines with 73 percent of Republicans saying Trump has not done anything wrong at all, 15 percent saying he did something unethical but not illegal and 4 percent saying he has done something illegal.

On the other hand, 41 percent of Democrats believe Trump did something illegal, with 39 percent of Dems saying it was unethical but not illegal and 13 percent think he hasn’t done anything wrong.

About the poll: The NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll surveyed 1,205 adults from June 21 to 25 with a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
