McCain More Popular With Democrats, Independents Than Republicans: Poll

John McCain is back to being every Democrat’s favorite Republican.

John McCain’s popularity among Democrats and independents has soared in the wake of his dramatic no vote on the Republican Obamacare repeal bill.

Democratic voters, according to a new poll, have a much higher opinion of Senator John McCain than Republicans.

Among Democrats, 74 percent have a favorable opinion of McCain. At the same time, just 39 percent of Republicans have a favorable opinion of the Arizona Senator.

The Quinnipiac poll which was released Wednesday comes after McCain cast the deciding vote to kill Republican Obamacare repeal bill last week. in the Senate.

And when it comes to independents, 60 percent have a positive view of McCain.

And overall, 57 percent of voters have a favorable view of John McCain while 32 percent hold an unfavorable view.

During a radio interview on Wednesday McCain defended his vote saying the Obamacare repeal bill would have “screwed” his state.

About the poll: The Quinnipiac poll surveyed 1,125 voters across the country was conducted via cell phones and landlines and has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
