Manafort Switches To Lawyer That Specializes In Complicated Financial Crimes”

The Russia investigation is heating up!

Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort just switched legal teams as Robert Meuller’s Special Counsel investigation closes in on him.

According to a statement from a spokesperson, Manafort is no longer being represented by the Washington D.C. law firm WilmerHale and is in the process of retaining his former counsel, Miller & Chevalier.

Politico reports that Miller and Chevalier is a boutique firm in Washington “that specializes in complicated financial crimes.”

“The move could signify a realization that the case has heated up, one of these people said, and that Manafort needs specialized criminal counsel,” Politico went on to note.

“Mr. Manafort is in the process of retaining his former counsel, Miller & Chevalier, to represent him in the office of special counsel investigation. As of today, WilmerHale no longer represents Mr. Manafort,” Jason Maloni said in the statement.

The news that Manafort is switching to a legal team that specializes in financial crimes comes just one day after it was revealed that FBI agents raided Manafort’s home in July searching for documents and other materials related to the federal probe.

Bloomberg reported Thursday morning that the Special Counsel has issued subpoenas to global banks for Manafort’s financial and business information.
