Trump Bashes Merck CEO Who Quit White House Council Over Trump Charlottesville Comments

Merck CEO says Trump’s Charlottesville statement wasn’t strong enough.

Kenneth Frazier, the chairman and CEO of Merck, who is an African American, announced Monday morning that he’s resigning from Donald Trump’s White House advisory council.

Frazier strongly suggested his resignation was because Trump didn’t condemn the white supremacists from the Charlottesville rally strongly enough.

In a statement, Frazier said, “America’s leaders must honor our fundamental values by clearly rejecting expressions of hatred, bigotry, and group supremacy, which run counter to the American ideal that all people are created equal.”

Adding that he has a “responsibility to take a stand against violence and extremism.”

Trump quickly attacked the Merck CEO on Twitter saying “Now that Ken Frazier of Merck Pharma has resigned from President’s Manufacturing Council, he will have more time to LOWER RIPOFF DRUG PRICES!”

Trump drew widespread criticism after failing to adequately condemn the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville over the weekend.
