URGENT: Trump Admin Is Demanding 1.3M IP Addresses From Resistance Site

The Trump administration is going after political dissidents.

The Trump administration’s attack on free press and decent escalated dramatically Monday.

The Trump Justice Department is demanding detailed visitor information for a website used to organize protests against Donald Trump.

The revelation came after the hosting service Dreamhost published a blog about the Trump administration request Monday.

Dreamhost, a web hosting provider based in Los Angeles, said that it has been working with the Department of Justice for several months on the request but it believes the request goes too far under and in unconstitutional.

According to DreamHost complying with the Department of Justice request would mean handing over about 1.3 million visitor IP addresses to the government. In addition to the IP addresses, they would also need to hand over contact information, email content and photos of thousands of visitors to the website.

“That information could be used to identify any individuals who used this site to exercise and express political speech protected under the Constitution’s First Amendment,” DreamHost wrote in the blog post on Monday.

“That should be enough to set alarm bells off in anyone’s mind.”

In a legal challenge to the Justice Department request Dreamhosts general counsel, Chris Ghazarian said: “In essence, the Search Warrant not only aims to identify the political dissidents of the current administration, but attempts to identify and understand what content each of these dissidents viewed on the website.”
