Russia Investigators Found Trump Campaign Emails Discussing Putin Meeting: Report

Senior Trump administration official sent an email during campaign referring to Putin meeting.

A senior Trump campaign official sent an email during the campaign referring an effort to arrange a meeting between Trump campaign officials and Vladimir Putin, according to a new CNN report.

That senior campaign official’s name is Rick Dearborn who is now Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff.

During the campaign, Dearborn was in charge of the Trump campaigns policy operation.

Dearborn’s email suggested that someone within the campaign identified only as “WV” wanted to connect the campaign with Putin.

According to the CNN report, the email was uncovered by congressional investigators probing connections between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The email was sent in June 2016, which is the same time period that Donald Trump Jr., Pual Manafort and Jared Kushner met with a Kremlin-linked lawyer promising help from the Russian government.

As CNN notes, “Dearborn was involved in helping to arrange an April 2016 event at the Mayflower Hotel where Trump delivered a major foreign policy address, sources said. Kislyak attended the event and a reception beforehand, but it’s unclear whether he interacted with Sessions there.”
