Hurricane Irma Destroys 90 Percent Of Caribbean Island

The Caribbean islands are among the first victims of Hurricane Irma. According to new reports from the island of Barbuda, Irma has destroyed 90 percent of the buildings on the island as it barreled through.

The hurricane has also killed at least one person.

According to ABC News, a spokesperson for Antigua and Barbuda’s National Office of Disaster Services told said that Irma had wreaked “widespread damage” to the island.

The island is home to 1,600 people.

Irma made landfall as a category 5 with winds above 185 mph.

The hurricane is expected to hit Florida on Saturday night.
