Gabby Giffords: I Pray Congress Has Courage To Take Action On Gun Control

“I am praying they find the courage it will take to make progress on the challenging issue of gun violence.”

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords implored her former colleagues in Congress to “find the courage” to pass bills to prevent more gun violence.

Giffords, who survived a gunshot wound to the head in a shooting in 2011, called the mass shooting in Las Vegas a “grave tragedy for our nation.”

Giffords said she was praying for the victims of the shooting, but also that she was “praying for my former colleagues, too.”

“I am praying they find the courage it will take to make progress on the challenging issue of gun violence. I know they got into politics for the same reason I did — to make a difference, to get things done,” she said.

“Now is the time to take positive action to keep America safer. Do not wait. The nation is counting on you.”

According to the Las Vegas Police Department, the death toll has risen to 58 with at least 500 people injured in Sunday’s shooting.
