Trump To Widow Of Slain Soldier: ‘He Knew What He Signed Up For’

Trump just proved why he shouldn’t be president.

President Trump is facing mounting controversy Tuesday night after a phone call he had with the widow of a soldier killed in Niger, according to the local ABC affiliate in Miami.

During his phone call with U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson’s widow Tuesday, Trump said “he knew what he signed up for …but when it happens it hurts anyway.”

Johnson died while serving in Niger.

Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, D-Miami Gardens, confirmed the story.

“Yes, he said it,” Wilson said. “It’s so insensitive. He should have not have said that. He shouldn’t have said it.”

According to the report, Trump spoke with Johnson’s widow at about 4:45 for about 5 minutes, just before her husband’s remains arrived at Miami International Airport.

Trump drew criticism after he lied about President Obama never calling the families of slain soldiers.
