Donald Trump’s Campaign Chairman Indicted, Told To Surender

Rick Gates, Manafort associate, also indicted.

Paul Manafort, campaign chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, has been indicted by Special Counsel Robert Muller and ordered to surrender to federal authorities.

The exact charges are still unknown, however, according to the New York Times Manafort and Gates, “had been under investigation for violations of federal tax law, money laundering and whether he appropriately disclosed his foreign lobbying.”

Manafort, who was at the highest level of the Trump campaign for several months in 2016, worked for years as a consultant for the Russian-linked Party of Regions in Ukraine.

Manafort’s associate Rick Gates was also indicted. According to the New York Times, “his name appears on documents linked to companies that Mr. Manafort’s firm set up in Cyprus to receive payments from politicians and businesspeople in Eastern Europe.”
