New Poll Finds Majority Don’t Believe GOP Bill Will Lower Their Taxes

Most Americans don’t believe the key promises of the Trump-GOP tax bill.

A majority of Americans don’t believe the Republican tax bill will lower their taxes, a new poll finds.

According to the new USA Today/Suffolk University Poll, 53 percent of respondents do not think they will pay lower taxes.

At the same time, 53 percent also believe the plan will not have a positive impact on the economy.

The poll had other troubling findings for Republicans.

Just 31 percent of Americans think their taxes will go down as a result of the new legislation.

And a strong majority of voters (64 percent) say they think the wealthy will get most of the benefits from the Republican tax bill.

Americans are largely unsupportive of the tax bill. Just 32 percent say they support the bill, while about half (48 percent) say they don’t support the Republican plan.

About the poll: The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted from Dec. 5-9. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
