Mueller Investigating Kushner For Using Transition To Get Foreign Financing His Business

The Special Counsel investigation is clearly picking up speed.

According to a new report, Mueller has now set his sights on Jared Kushner’s shady business dealings.

The Special Counsel is investigation Kushner’s attempts to use the presidential transition get foreign financing for his business, CNN is reporting.

“Special counsel Robert Mueller’s interest in Jared Kushner has expanded beyond his contacts with Russia and now includes his efforts to secure financing for his company from foreign investors during the presidential transition, according to people familiar with the inquiry.” according to CNN.

Reports of Mueller’s interest in Kushner comes after several new developments in the Russia investigation including senior Trump campaign aide Rick Gates agreeing to plead guilty and testify against Paul Manafort and others.

Gates spent more time on the Trump campaign than Manafort and is likely in a position to share information about Kushner.

In addition to probing Kushner’s attempt to use the transition to get foreign financing for his business, Mueller is also investigation Kushner for his role in the Trump campaign’s data analytics operation, his relationship with Michael Flynn and several contacts Kushner had with Russians during the campaign.

As CNN notes, “During the presidential transition, Kushner was a lead contact for foreign governments, speaking to “over fifty contacts with people from over fifteen countries,” according to a statement he gave to congressional investigators. Before joining the administration, Kushner was also working to divest his interests in Kushner Companies, the family company founded by his father. In early 2017, Kushner also divested from the 666 Fifth Avenue property that his family’s company purchased in 2007 for $1.8 billion. The interests were sold to a family trust that Kushner does not benefit from, a spokesperson said at the time.”
