Trump’s Campaign Data Firm Met With Russians Tied To Putin: Report

Russian business executives were seeking data to reach American voters.

Cambridge Analytica, the data firm used by Donald Trump’s campaign during the 2016 election, met with Russian business executives in the run-up to the 2016 election, The New York Times reported Saturday.

The report is just the latest in a series of publically reported meetings between the Trump campaign and the Russians.

The business executives from Russian oil giant Lukoil met with Cambridge Analytica in 2014 and 2015 – the same time period that Donald Trump was considering entering the presidential race – and asked the data firm to help the target American voters.

In addition to the newly revealed connections between Russia executives tied to Putin and the data firm used by Donald Trump’s campaign, it was also reported that Cambridge Analytica improperly obtained private Facebook profile information for 50 million Americans.
