Poll Finds Tax Bill Hurts Republican Incumbents

Republicans may regret passing the tax scam bill.

As Republicans race to pass their tax scam bill before the end of the year, a new poll released this week finds that the tax bill may hurt Republicans come election day 2018.

According to a new survey by Priorities USA, the approval ratings of Republican lawmakers drops dramatically when voters find out the details of the GOP tax plan.

The Democratic advocacy group polled more than 12,000 voters in 20 House districts and the state of Nevada.

According to The Hill, the survey found that approval ratings dropped by an average of three points after voters were informed about the GOP tax bill.

“The results have been striking: after voters are exposed to ads about the tax plan, the job approval numbers for the incumbent drops, and voters are more inclined to vote against the incumbent in next year’s midterm elections,” Guy Cecil, the chairman of the group, wrote in a December 15 memo.

Priorities USA, a group classified under section 501(c)4 of the tax code, announced its nationwide ad campaign last month.
