McCain Calls On Trump To Fill State Department Jobs

Senator John McCain on Saturday called on Donald Trump to fill senior roles at the State Department that have been left open for the two months of Trump’s presidency.

According to the Associate Press, McCain was speaking at a forum in Brussels and said it was essential to fill senior posts at the state department to support Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

McCain said Mr. Tillerson”doesn’t have a team there at the State Department. And I think it’s incumbent for the president and the administration to get people nominated and confirmed.”

“McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, spoke Saturday during an event in Brussels. He pointed to “confusion” over whether Tillerson would attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers,” the AP noted.

Senator McCain added that he expected “that would be a rapid process.”

John McCain has emerged as a counter to the Trump administrations friendliness towards Russia and has called for the appointment of a select committee to be appointed to investigate the Trump-Russia scandal.
