Pelosi, Schiff Respond To Trump Intel Leak To Russians

The Trump White House has faced swift and broad criticism from both sides of the aisle after it was revealed that Trump shared highly classified intelligence information with Russian officials during an Oval Office meeting last week.

During an appearance at an event for the Center for American Progress House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Intel Committee Vice Chair Adam Schiff had a chance to respond to the controversy.

Pelosi said, “What the president did was totally outrageous.”

“If it was unwitting, that would be pathetic and dangerous. If it was intentional, that would even be— I don’t know what’s worse” Pelosi continued.

Adam Schiff had similarly harsh words for Trump.

“I have to hope that someone will counsel the president about just what it means to protect closely held information,” Schiff said.

The statements from Pelosi and Schiff come on the heels of a report by the Associate Press that a European intelligence official has warned that his country may stop sharing intelligence with the United States after news broke that Donald Trump shared highly classified information with the Russians.

The official said sharing information “could be a risk for our sources,” according to the report.

It has been widely reported that after the story broke that Donald Trump leaked highly classified intelligence to the Russians the Trump White House is in chaos according to multiple news reports.

Shortly after news broke, Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon and his communications team including Sean Spicer, Mike Dubke, Sarah Sanders walked into cabinet room and could be heard yelling at each other.

They reportedly turned the televisions on very high to mute out the yelling.
